I did it !!!!

My first day on ambulance attachment todae.. Morning shift..

Start day only got call liao.. First call was hypoglycaemia... Glucose given and positive results very soon..

Den after that was a call to CJC.. This student was complaining of abdominal pain.. Nothing much we can do.. Again send to TTSH...

After that there was a long break thru the whole afternoon there was no call..
At bout 5 plus, there was a call to a school again.. This time its Catholic High School.. Student was hit by softball in the eye.. Unable to see wth injured eye.. This time we send him to KK hospital..

After dinner, i tot tt'll be the end of the day le.. But i was wrong.. At 7plus, there was a call... Patient suffering from some spinal injury and was unable to walk.. Clinic called for the ambulance..

When we reach back to the fire station, i tot tt will be the end of the day.. But juz as the ambulance reach the fire station, another call came.. Since the nxt shift still upstairs, we went for the call.. Call for DIB.. Elderly man in his 60's.. Gave him O2 and we loaded him and headed for TTSH.. First unstable case of the day for us.. On the way there, he went into respiratory arrest.. Had to bag him.. I could recognise many 'classical' signs when he collapse.. The eyeballs juz flip.. Not PEARL anymore.. Capillary refill delayed.. I even had the chance to auscultate him to hear crackles..

Reach TTSH resus.. No pulse liao.. In the resus, i did chest compressions as one of the doctor continue to bag him.. I was really afraid he'll juz...... But i was hoping the whole time... Come back!! After some time, i stopped to check for pulse.. Lo and behold, there was a strong carotid pulse!! In fact, there was even a strong femural pulse!! So happy lor.. The doctor even turned to me and said i juz save his life.. The feeling is juz great.. Went out to see the tear-filled eyes of the wife looking at us, muttering thanks... Really hope he recovered after we left.. As the ambulance crew, we can't really wait there...

When i got back, my paramedic was telling the other paramedic how i managed to get the pulse back after CPR.. She told me its a quite rare thing for a person who has collapsed to get a pulse back.. Say i'm really lucky.. Me, i'm juz glad i could do something..

Muz thank my paramedic, or crew leader, alot.. She really made the effort to make sure i have chance to look, listen and feel for the various signs and symptoms.. She was very nice and helpful when at the end of the call, i discuss bout the call wth her.. She taught me alot of stuff.. And also refreshed alot of stuff for me..

Started the day thinking it'll be very relax.. Ended the day feeling tired but happy.. A fruitful day indeed..

Tmrl is back to TTSH for afternoon shift.. Feelin tired...
